NGenTec Welcomes Fergus Ewing to EWEA
The Scottish Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, Fergus Ewing, visited NGenTec at EWEA Offshore 2011 (29th November 2011), the world’s largest offshore wind energy event.
Welcomed on to the NGenTec stand by CEO, Dr Makhlouf Benatmane, the Minister proved to be well acquainted with NGenTec’s technology and contribution to the global wind power industry. The event also afforded NGenTec the opportunity to introduce Mr Ewing to some of the company’s business partners.
While at the exhibition and conference, the Minister, gave a keynote address on how Scotland is leading from the front and leading by example. The Scottish Government aims to deliver a transformation in energy generation and usage across Scotland and that process is well underway.
In his speech, he declared that the transition to a low carbon economy “is about making us more competitive now and about protecting our environment for generations in future. It is also about cooperation with our friends and neighbours across the seas in Europe to keep, create and contribute to a single European connected energy grid and market.”
The Minister went on to announce that with the Crown Estate, which owns the sea around Scotland, it intends to open up discussions with developers on further lease bidding in Scottish Waters.
